PROGRAMS Overseas Travel Meaning of Montessori High School • Curriculum and Courses • Counseling and Student Life • Recent Activities Ireland 2008
During the first week of May 2008 (between the Winter and Spring Semester at MCCC) the group left for Shannon Airport in western Ireland. Once in Shannon, we hooked up with our bus driver, Chris, who took us from Shannon to port of Rossaveal. At Rossaveal, our guide, Wilma, met up with us and assigned us our bikes. Then we took the Ferry to island of Inishmore (the largest of the Aran Islands), and we spent our first day and night on this the very mystical island. The island breathed the life of the ancient Celts, tingling our senses. The weather couldn't have been better. The next day we ended northwest to Clifden and spent two days there. Again the weather was not at all what we expected, 70 and sunny! We moved on to Leenane, and then to Westport for the last day of bike travel. Ten next day Chris picked us up and took us to Bunratty where we went to Irish Banquet that featured music, dance and wonderful Irish fare! This was a great finish to our trip. Before we knew it, we were looking back through the windows of our huge jet at the green green land of Eire, hoping it sent a blessing with us. Rome 2006 The students spent eight days in Rome with Ian Calder- Piedmonte, who had lived in the city for several years and was an experiences tour guide. The group explored the ancient ruins (with a trip to Pompeii folded in), as well as the Renaissance palaces, grand piazzas, and current government. |
