College Counseling

Our College Counseling is designed to support and serve each Meadow Montessori student and family as young people get ready to take their next educational steps.  The core focus of the program is to help each student find and matriculate at a college or university where he or she will be appropriately challenged, supported, and comfortable.

The process for making a match between a student and a college starts during his or her sophomore year. The first step is taking the ACT and/or the SAT college entrance tests. We encourage students to take these tests several times over the next few years. Knowing that every second counts, during sophomore year we also mentor the student along in their AP classes and college classes. Junior year is when we earnestly start working with the student in making selections of possible colleges. We encourage all of our students to apply to their colleges of choice by November of senior year.

Our goal is to provide our students with personalized counseling and services to assist them in having a fulfilling high school experience that will prepare them for college and future success. Our interactive program changes and expands to match the needs of our students' families and the evolution of college admissions. Our program's success is based on the satisfaction of the students we serve.

Student Life

Besides taking classes at MMHS and MCCC, the students are engaged with several activities within the school and outside of the school.

Last year we had our first prom at the Sawyer House, and this year we had our first orchestra performance at the La-Z-Boy Center, as well as our first theatrical performance of Shakespeare. Last year, the students had a weeklong Art Show at the school and this year will have a piece for the Art Auction.

Outside the walls of the school, students have been in extra curricular activities that include (but are not limited to): youth hockey, dancing, singing, music, and acting classes.

"Start Something New"

A unique element of MMHS is the Start Something New Project. All 12th graders, as a part of their graduation requirements, develop a Start Something New project that either serves the school and/or the community at-large. The idea behind "Start Something New" is that once the project gets started, it continues to be a part of the school or community’s life in future years. This is a way for our students can reach out and give back to the community.
