High School Graduation
"Start Something New"
Our three high school graduating seniors continue MMS’s tradition of "starting something new." All three are adding activities that can both be embraced by the Meadow Montessori community and the community at large here in Monroe. The following are the legacies that will be left.
Class of 2009
Angel Cousino established a Leadership Club at MMS for younger students. She plans on continuing to attend meetings for the coming year.
Tyler Eisaman improved and enhanced the Council Ring hoping to make it more usable for larger school gatherins.
Corey Webb built and installed two simulated archeology dig sites, one for prehistoric animals and one for early human settlements in Monroe.
Class of 2008:
Tyler Eisaman was the Student Editor-in-chief of the Meadow Montessori School Yearbook
Carl Ghigliazza is directing and producing a drama/comedy, which he hopes will be a continuing tradition for either Fall or Spring for the High School, to balance with the Opera.
Cam Calbert organized a clean-up of historic Sterling Island on Thursday, May 29 from 6-8 pm. Cam hopes this will become an annual event.
Kyla Brown planned a Walkathon sponsored by Meadow Montessori to assist the victims of Hurricane Katrina. This horrific event affected her life personally, and she wanted to give something so others can move on with their lives.
Class of 2007:
Rick Mather built and installed an observation hut in our meadow. This structure, equipped with field guides, is used by the elementary students to quietly observe nature.
Danielle Cook organized our first-ever all-school talent show.
Class or 2006:
Mitchell Bourgeois started a school newspaper, which is edited, written, and published by the upper elementary students.Matthew Hnilica coordinated a literacy project for the homeless. He first educated the students at MMS about the issue of homelessness in Monroe County, and then he organized a program by which our elementary and middle school students delivered books each Friday to a local soup kitchen.
Cameron Webb developed and implemented a Latin program for our upper elementary classrooms.
