Healthy Breakfast

    • Jump starts brain and body
    • Aids in concentration and learning

Drop Off

    • Pull up and drop off at front doors
    • Class STARTS promptly at 8:00 a.m., children are expected to be here by 7:50 a.m.
    • New tardy policy: 5 tardies=1 absence
    • Michigan Law allows the maximum of 10 absences per academic year; more could result in level retention.

Shoes

    • Indoor - slippers or comfortable shoe
    • Outdoor
      • Weather appropriate
      • Comfortable/safe for running, climbing, jumping…

Complete Extra Set of Clothes

    • Weather appropriate
    • Keep at school and replenish when needed

Book Bags

    • A character-free bag to carry belongings in (see handbook)
    • Bring daily

Lunch

    • 11:15 a.m.-11:50 a.m.
    • Character-free lunch boxes (see handbook)

Morning Snack

    • Schedule provided
    • Nutritious snacks such as: bags of fruit, veggies, granola, whole grain crackers, cheese, and yogurt…

Reading Schedule

    • See Handout
    • Literature groups will be formed in the coming weeks

Spelling

    • Second and Third Years begin right away
      • Test on Fridays

Take Home Folders

    • All children have one
    • Only students in reading program will have a red folder inside; other children will use it for Literature Group

Schedule of the Day

    • 7:50 a.m. -children in room, preparing for morning work
    • 8:00 a.m.- morning work cycle promptly begins
      • Lesson presentations and work
      • Reading program
    • 11:15-11:50 a.m.-Lunch
    • 12:00 p.m. -Physical Education
    • 1:00 p.m.- Foreign Language
    • 1:45 p.m.
      • First years:  lessons in room
      • Second years:  M/W-art, T/TH-music
      • Third years:  M/W-music, T/TH- art
    • 2:30 p.m.
      • First years:  M/W-art, T/TH-music
      • Second/third years: in class working on spelling & silent reading
    • 3:00 p.m.- jobs/read aloud
    • 3:30 p.m.- dismissal
    • If scheduling outside appointments, please attempt to make them after school.

Things to Return to School

    • Hurtful and Harmful Behavior policy and Computer Ethics-signed by child and parent
    • Foreign Language- French or Spanish (First year families please email preference as soon as possible)
