FACULTY
Isabel M. Benedicto

I was born on September 12th., 1959 in Veracruz, Mexico.  I am the fourth of five children; four girls and one boy.  When I was 12 years old, I decided I wanted to study English and enrolled in a school to study Executive Bilingual Secretary.  It was just the last fifteen years that I needed to speak English the most due to my job requirements.

Veracruz is located at the southeast of Mexico, and is a highly international trade marine port, where business from abroad is very active, and therefore bilingual individuals are very much appreciated.  During the last eleven years, I worked for Turbinas Solar, S.A. de C.V, which is subsidiary of Solar Turbines, Inc. headquartered in San Diego, CA.   During this period, I had to travel to the United States for training purposes and business meetings.  My position was a Sales Order Administrator, being a link between our customer in Mexico –Petroleos Mexicanos—and Solar Turbines, Inc., administering customer’s orders.

In June, 2006 left my job and we flew, my son Victor and I, to the United States at the end of this same year to get together with my husband.  We arrived in Monroe on December 18, 2006 and enrolled my son in the 10th grade of middle school at MMS.    Victor now is in 11th grade of high school, and enjoying school a lot.

At the beginning of this year, I was invited to volunteer for Spanish immersion in the toddlers room, working with Charise Howard.  For this new school year, I was offered a job to continue with Spanish immersion.  This activity happened to be very challenging for me, as I need to look for one and thousand ways to keep the toddlers’ attention, and build an effective Spanish immersion. Since my volunteerism until now, I have been invited to weekend workshops and meetings, and have started to learn about Montessori’s philosophy.
